judge   writer   photographer

I have built this web site to share my experience and experiences with friends, judicial colleagues,
solicitors, barristers, fellow travellers, photographers and anyone else who is interested.

The legal part of the site is divided into the three main areas of my experience in practice and as a judge.

criminal law contains my Criminal Law Review article Summing Up – a judge’s perspective and
directions giving legal definitions of a number of offences.
housing law and civil procedure both include published articles and notes for lectures which I
      have given.

recent developments is a link to copies of Recent Developments in Housing Law, a monthly

series of articles which appear in Legal Action.

The rest of the site is devoted to three of my interests outside work
travel writing hosts my published articles and descriptions of places that I have visited.
family history contains details of my book English Roots – a family history.
photos contains a selection of photos, especially those from my book one world one view which was published to raise money for the African Children’s Educational Trust.
There is also a page explaining the work of the
African Children’s Educational Trust and a link to their web site.

You can click on about me for a legal biography and bibliographies of articles and books which I
have written
 or to which I
have contributed.

This is a personal web site which I have built and maintain myself.  Although I am a judge, any opinions expressed are my own personal views and do not necessarily reflect those of other judges, HM Court Service or the Ministry of Justice.  As a judge, I am unable to offer legal advice or comment on decided cases.
